Abstract

Employee satisfaction is important indicator for an organization's success and survival. This paper examines several work environment variables and their impact leading to satisfied employees in the bank. Employees should be encouraged to take pride in their job and to appreciate the fulfillment that comes from their performance. The commercial banks have embarked on different management strategies to promote employee job satisfaction and thus employee retention. The present study was undertaken in Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) in Gondar, to assess employee's job satisfaction. Working with a sample of 125 bank employees of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in Gondar, the researchers administered a questionnaire of Paul E. Spector to assess job satisfaction. The data was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method using AMOS. Confirmatory factor analysis of measurement models indicated adequate goodness of fit after eliminating a few items through modification indices verifications. The recommendations are provided towards quality performance for employee's job satisfaction.
