This paper examines the level of investment of gold in Kerala specifically concentrating the investment culture of the people in Viyyur Thrissur. The study is designed as a descriptive one, using primary and secondary data. It is based on the micro-economic approach of estimating the response of the households towards the income savings and investment pattern of gold. The empirical findings reveal that demographic profile of the individual investor has a very strong impact on the investment behaviour towards gold. A substantial number of investors of gold in Kerala like to make gold investment mainly in the form of ornaments especially for marriage and education for their children. Investors are not well aware of more profitable gold investments like ETFs, futures and options on gold which will be a much better option than physical gold.
