The study attempts to find out relationship of age and gender and income with investment preferences towards fixed deposit of the individual investors in Uttarakhand. In Uttarakhand there are lot financial avenues available where the individual investors invest their surplus money.
Primary study is conducted in Uttarakhand60 respondents. The primary data is collected through structured Questionnaire. Based on the findings of the study, factors and their relationship affecting the investment behaviour in the financial market are examined.
The study found out that there is a significant relationship of gender and income with investment preference towards fixed deposit. It also reveals that age does not affect the investment preferences. Statistic tool chi square test and percentage analysis are used to analyze the data. It will be useful to design and develop financial product/avenues that caters to the need of the investors. The study also finds that mostly salaried class and low and middle income prefer fixed deposit.
