Abstract

Economic growth too is driven by energy in the form of finite resources such as coal, oil and gas, renewable energy (wind, solar, thermal and so on) or its converted from electricity. Providing adequate and affordable electric power is essential for economic development, human welfare and higher standard living. This study focuses growth of installed capacity of renewable energy in India from 1947 to 2015 and to analyse the sector-wise power consumption in Tamil Nadu in 2016. For the nature of the present research work, the researcher used secondary data to highlight and substantiate the theoretical aspects of the economic study on sustainability of renewable energy with National level and Tamil Nadu level for this analysis.
