Social Responsibility of Students

India is largely populated country and so are the issues prevailing. There is enough scope for social work in India on account of its huge population. Government alone may not be able to solve all the issues (like environment protection, road safety, safe drinking water, health, education, problems in slum areas, under privileged children, inequality). Along with government, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) share the responsibility of development of India. There is one NGO for less than 400 Indians. Today's young generation is the major force that can transform India and reduce the problems by taking up the social responsibility. There is more expectation from the graduate students; specifically the students who are seeking formal education and training in social work. Social work graduates are considered to be the most suitable candidates for effective functioning of NGOs.

This research paper throws light on such students and gives a picture; how far or how close they are from social responsibility.

This paper focuses on motives and job preferences of graduates who have received formal education in social work and thus reveals how far or how close they are from social responsibility.
