Abstract

November 8, 2017, a historic decision was taken by Government of India when Mr Modi announced that the high denomination notes (Rs 500 and Rs 1000) then in circulation was ceased to be a legal tender. However, some provisions were made to exchange/deposit the currency notes through banking channel for a limited period to facilitate public transactions. The purpose of this measure was to curb/unearth amount of large amount of Black money (and also fake currency) accumulated overtime in the Indian economy. After November, 2016 major changes took place in the different sectors of Indian economy which gave new challenges to the Government. Hence an attempt has been made to explore and adopt changes. This study covers the effects of demonetization on different Indian sectors.
