Abstract

The higher education sector in India is at an inflexion point where in each education institution is trying to excel against the other through various accreditations, student exchange programs, certification programs, overseas internships, research and consultancy and so on hence, the study was carried out to understand the perception of Academicians on factors of Institutional Excellence in selected Higher Educational Institutions in South India. Response to the questionnaire from 400 hundred Academicians were collected and analyzed. After analyzing the data using Factor Analysis it was observed that the factors influencinginstitutional excellence can be broadly classified under three factors namely, Research and consultancy, Human and Financial Resources and Social Responsibility.
