The Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) program aims to bring transparency and terminate pilferage from distribution of funds sponsored by Central Government of India,it is an attempt to ensure a timely delivery of benefits to the people. In DBT, benefit or subsidy will be directly transferred to citizens living below poverty line. DBT covers the following categories of schemes like Cash Transfer to Individual Beneficiary, In-kind Transfer from Government to Individual Beneficiary Other Transfers like community workers, NGOs, in the form of honorarium, incentives, etc. The beneficiaries of the Direct Benefit Transfer is mainly through Aaadhar card, which provides an unique identification of Individual which is of great benefit for bank as well as Government which is the first step of digital economy. Future India is expected to grow digitally where the payment of the next generation will be done digitally, which will have a favorable regulatory environment The current paper focuses on the growth and development of the payment mode especially Aadhaar card over a period of time. Digital payment will have a significant contribution to the days ahead (i) Technology will make digital payment simpler(ii) Merchant acceptance network to grow to 10million by 2020, Payment (iii) payments will force consumption (iv) modified UPI will drive large sale adoption of digital payments, which will increase the growth (v) the proportion of non-cash transaction will exceed the cash transaction in the next decade. (BCG, 2016).
