The story of development of Lufthansa Group is a fascinating journey and is a classical case in organizational change and transformation. Today tit is an airline group having 550 subsidiaries and associated companies. It operates worldwide and continues to provide world class services to its passengers and stands out as an exemplary company in the aviation sector. For overall and appropriate governance structure, Lufthansa group banks on the “Effective and lean organisation”. The turnaround and phenomenal success of Lufthansa Airlines and the group can be attributed to its ability to form alliances with a large of companies and create network for itself, through which, it has been able to expand and create a wide range of integrated services for the aviation industry as a whole, which has not only helped its own companies, but others in the industry as well. The present article makes an attempt to throw light on some of the most significant issues and events in the context of the unique company.
