A Study on Social Networking and its Impact on Education in Erode City

The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of social networks in education. The main objective of this study is to examine the usefulness of social networks as a tool of communication and education. And to find out the issues while using social networks. Erode district as choose as study area and the sample size is 125. The major findings of this study are 64% of the respondents are using whatsapp. The mean rank analysis proves that the main reason for using social networks is chatting with friends and it got first rank and education purpose is the second rank. The main problem of using social network is reducing family closeness and got the first rank position and affect their studies is the second rank. Finally this study concludes that the youth are the filler for a nation. If we prevent the knowledge of youth then the nation's growth is blocked. But now a days that youth's world are occupy the social media. So it's the time we should concentrate on the impacts of social networks among youth especially students in educational institutions. This study also points that most of the respondents are not use the social networks for their e-learning purpose; here our educational institutions and government should take necessary steps for plan and implement the e-learning facilities in education through rule.
