“The Impact of Family Type on the Emotional Intelligence of Net Generation Students”

Purpose: Research in the field of emotional intelligence have become a dynamic study area over the past few decades and is likely to become even more so as the importance of emotional intelligence is rapidly gaining momentum. Therefore understanding EI will be viewed as increasingly important.

India has been regarded as the youngest country in the world by the UN as it has the world's second largest population. Family bond is considered to be the strongest in India.

Family type is one of the most neglected components in the Indian society due to the complexity in its computation. Family shapes an individual's personality, measured by big 5 personality traits of an individual (Openness to experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness and Neuroticism) and controls the behavior of the person which has a strong relationship with the Emotional intelligence of the individual. This article aims at examining the relationship between Emotional intelligence and family type of net generation students.
