Effect of cyst extraction techniques on biology of Heterodera zeae
Abstract
A comparative evaluation of efficacy of cysts of Heterodera ieae, extracted from soil through chemicals and manually hand-picked ones, has been made in respect of host root penetration by larvae and their subsequent development inside roots. All evaluated chemicals caused reduction in penetration of roots by larvae. Development inside host roots was retarded as well. However, some of the chemicals can be used gainfully for rapid collection of cysts from soil. A recommended scheme for extraction and sepanition of cysts from soil has been suggested.
