Effect of different periods of degradation of su-babool leaves alone and in combination with nematicide on root knot nematode incidence in okra
Abstract
Su-babool leaves (Leucaena leucocephale (Lam.) de Wit) @40g/kg soil were evaluated for degradation periods (0, 1, 2 and 4 weeks before sowing) against Meloidogyne javanica infecting okra in two sets. In one set su-babool leaves alone were used and in second, leaves were supplemented with carbofuran @ 1 kg a.i./ha. There was significant improvement in plant growth characters and reduction in number of galls and egg masses, when su-babool leaves were supplemented with carbofuran. Su-babool leaves, degraded for four weeks, resulted in minimum galling and better growth characters of okra.
