Abstract

A survey of ten areas of citrus orchards in Libya indicated the presence of 26 genera of parasitic nematodes. The citrus nematode. Tylenchulus semipenetrans was recorded from all the citrus orchards surveyed. Generally, high population of citrus nematode was found on trees showing chlorosis and twig dieback. Sixteen species were recorded for the first time in Libya. Nematicidal treatments significantly reduced T. semipenetrans in roots and soil. Phenamiphos and oxamyl at 10 and 20 g a.i./tree and aldicarb at 20 g.a.i./tree significantly increased fruit yield.
