During the survey high population of spiral nematode, Helicotylenchus dihystera was recorded from the rhizosphere soil of the forage sorghum. To determine its damaging potential, pathogenicity test was carriedo out, which revealed that an inoculum level of 10,000 nematode per plant caused significant reduction in plant growth parameters. Further, 21 promising cultivars of forage sorghum screened against this nematode in pot culture experiment showed varying degree of susceptibility. Two cultivars Etawah-2 and JHS-822 were found to be least susceptible where as all uther cultivars were highly susceptible with reference to their reproduction factor. Similar results were also observed in the field screening.
