Spraying of maize plants with suspensions of 250 or 500 μg/ml of phenamiphos and 500 or 1000 μg/ml of oxamyl three days prior to larval inoculation of Heterodera zeae were found to be superior to post-inoculation sprays in reducing larval penetration into roots of cv. Ganga-5. In both the spray timings, phenamiphos proved to be more effective than oxamyl. After larval penetradon into the roots, their subsequent development was not affected to any significant extent.
