Cotton yield was reduced significantly at and above 100 ju veniles of Meloidogyne incognita in Desi cotton and at and above 500 juveniles/pot in American cotton. However, qualitative characters were not affected significantly. Final rootknot index was maximum (5.0) at and above 1,000 juveniles/plant both in American and Desi cotton. There was decrease in dry shoot weight and increase in dry root weight with increase in inoculum level.
