Abstract

Morphology and biology of Anguina tritici has been studied. The second stage larvae take 9 days to reach the growing point of wheat seed, if inoculations are made by galls; 4 days if larvae are used for inoculations, and 2 days if inoculations are made by larvae 3 days after seed sowing. The second stage larvae continue to increase in numbers at the growing point till 45 days after inoculations. The larvae start penetrating the flower primorda from 68th day and onwards after inoculations and the developmental stages are discernible from 70 days and onwards. The total life cycle (2nd stage to 2nd stage) takes 103 days.
