Sixtynine cultivars/lines of brinjal (Solanum melongena L.) were screened under glass-house conditions for their reaction to Meloidogyne javanica and race-1. race-2 and race-3 of M. incognita. ‘Gulla’, popularly grown in the southern parts of Karnataka was found to be highly resistant to race-1 and 2 of M. incognita but slightly susceptible to M. javanica and race-3 of M. incognita. Rest of the cultivars/lines were susceptible to all the four populations of the nematode at varied degrees.
