Pathogenic Potential of Pigeon Pea Cyst Nematode, Heterodera Cajani on Three Cultivars of Guar, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (L.) Taub.

The pathogenicity of pigeon pea cyst nematode, Heterodera cajani was studied on three cultivars of guar, Cyamopsis tetragonoloba. An initial inoculum of 500 larvae/kg soil caused significant damage in cultivars Pusa Nav Bahar and HG-258, however, in cultivar FS-277, significant but drastic damage (sometimes causing plant death) occurred only at 5000 inoculum level. The bacterial nodulation was drastically reduced in all the cultivars.
