Abstract

The superoxide dismutase activity was estimated from crude extracts of cowpea root cultivars, Pusa Barsati, (susceptible); C 152 and 82-1-B (resistant) inoculated with the root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita. The enzyme activity increased in Pusa Barsati, but decreased in resistant cultivars at all the stages of observations. Electrophoretic analyses showed that the isozymes did not vary either in number or in electrophoretic mobility. Superoxide-estimation revealed that the radical was more in nematode-inoculated resistant cultivars than the susceptible cultivar.
