Abstract

Desmoscolex indicus sp. n. collected from soil around the roots of a forest tree, Albizzia prosera is described and figured. D. indicus is distinguished in having 2 pairs of cephalic setae; comparatively smaller and unequal number of subdorsal somatic-setae on left and right side and absence of spinneret and caudal glands. This is the first record of Desmoscolex species from India.
