Few popular cultivars and promising lines of brinjal were evaluated for their reaction to the two species of root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne javanica and the three races of M. incognita with the wilt bacterium, Pseudomonas solanacearum individually and in various combinations. A local brinjal cultivar ‘Gulla’ showed high degree of resistance to race 1 and 2 of M. incognita as well as P. solanacearum when inoculated alone. However, other brinjal lines were susceptible to all the four populations of the nematode and also to the bacterium.
Interaction, Meloldogyne javanica, M. incognita race 1, 2 and 3, Pseudomonas solanacearum and brinjal
