Fumigant durofume (ethylene dibromide + methylbromide) was tested as preplanting treatment against root-knot nematode disease and weeds in mulberry. Durofume was found very effective against root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita and weeds. Significant reduction in - nematode galls (86.0–96.1%) production was observed in fumigated plots and egg mass (87.9–97.6%) over control. Similarly, plant height, leaf moisture and leaf yield were also increased significantly by soil fumigation and the percentage increase ranged from 10.4 to 12.0, 3.6 to 6.3 and 15.0 to 17.8 respectively. Further, population of different weeds and their densities were significantly reduced in fumigated plots over control.
