Abstract

Variations in the Indian population of four nominal species of the genus Helicotylenchus viz; H. crenaaauda Sher, 1966; H. microcephalus Sher, 1966; H. indicus Siddiqi, 1963, and H. digitatus Siddiqi and Husain, 1964 are recorded. Six new synonyms viz., H. macronatus, H. indenticaudatus Mulk and Jairajpuri 1975; H. hazratbulensis Fotedar and Hand 1974 H. persici Saxena et al., 1973; H. magnicephalus Phukan & Sanwal, 1981 and H. solani Rashid & Khan, 1972 are proposed and twelve synonyms are confirmed. A list of valid species from India with digitate tail terminus is presented.
