Abstract

Nine subabul cultivars were screened against Meloidogyne incognita. The cultivars K-500 and K-341 were found to be resistance to the root-knot nematode. The penetraction studies showed that the growth of plants was significantly improved by inoculation with mycorrhiza, whereas nematode inoculations retarded the plant growth. The plants which received VA mycorrhiza 21 days prior to nematodes was able to offset the ill effect caused by the latter and had more vigorous plant growth. The gall formation and nematode population was significantly lower by the early establishment of VA mycorrhiza.
