Twenty-one extracts obtained from twelve plants were screened for nematicidal activity against the root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita. The methanol extracts of Catharanthus roseus roots and defatted onion seeds and the essential oil of Pelargonium graveolens showed significantly high activity. The methanol extracts of Gloriosa superha seeds also showed moderate activity. The chemical nature of the active fractions and their possible use in agllculture are discussed.
