Abstract

The study was conducted to ascertain the fluctuation of Meloidogyne spp. in different cropping sequences adopted by the fanners at two sites in Gabipur and Barwala villages of Hisar district of Haryana during 2001–02 to 2004–05. At first site of Gabipur village, the farmer had field crops whereas at the second site the farmer took only vegetable crops at his fields during the period under observation. The data recorded on population of root-knot nematode at sowing and harvesting of each crop clearly revealed that there was increase in population of root-knot nematode by sowing susceptible vegetable crops than the field crops. Increase in population, was more in Kharif crops. The reduction of root-knot nematode population is also directly related with the time and duration of fallowing and use of non host crops.
