Abstract

RAPD markers were used to characterize the genetic diversity and relationships of root-knot nematodes (RKN) (Meloidogyne spp.) in Gujarat. Polymorphism was detected among M. indica, M. incognita, M. javanica pt 1 and M. javanica pt 2. Phylogenetic analyses showed that M. javanica pt 1 and M. javanica pt 2 are more closely related to each other at 83% similarity while Meloidogyne incognita is separated from Meloidogyne javanica pt 1 and Meloidogyne javanica pt 2 at 40% similarity level. Meloidogyne indica is out grouped from other three species of Meloidogyne at 86% dissimilarity.
