Abstract

Experiments were carried out to study the nematicidal effect of eight different plant extracts namely neem (Azadirachta indica) leaves, aloevera (Aloe barbadense) leaves, aak (Calotropis gigantea) leaves, sadabahar (Vinca rosea) leaves, jatropha (Jatropha curcas) leaves, garlic (Allium sativum) clove, onion (Allium cepa) bulb and jatropha (Jatropha curcas) seed on hatching and mortality of M. incognita larvae under laboratory conditions. Extracts of all eight plants showed toxic effect against M. incognita at varying degree. Percentage mortality and hatching inhibition of M. incognita were directly proportional to the concentration of plant extracts and exposure period to each extract. Leaves extract of aak (C. gigantea) was found to be more effective among all other plant extracts in increasing mortality and hatching inhibition.
