Abstract

Stress analysis of single wall carbon nanotubes was carried out using Finite element analysis using ANSYS 7.0 software. Shear loads are applied to armchair carbon nano tubes and find the deflection of the tubes. Different stress values are given as input values and deflections are measured. Theoretical stress analysis shows that using carbon nanotubes in different mechanical application can withstand more forces because of the properties of young's modulus. Mechanical Behavior of single wall carbon nano tubes can be studied using Finite element model and provide the integration to nanocomposites and nanomachining.
