Abstract

Multiwalled carbon nanotubes have been synthesized by catalytic chemical vapour deposition (CCVD) over cobalt, zinc and aluminium mixed catalysts. The catalyst was synthesized by co-precipitation from Co, Zn and Al chlorides. Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and energy dispersive spectroscopy of X-rays all indicate the presence of carbon nanotubes together with small amounts of amorphous carbon.
