A Study to Determine Effectiveness of Planned Teaching Programme on Knowledge of Total Parenteral Nutrition in Children among the Third Year B.Sc Nursing Students in a Selected Institute at Mangalore

Strong training in the academic period is needed to improve the knowledge in the area of TPN for the students. It's a life saver for the patients who are unable to absorb adequate nutrition through their intestine1. The main aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness of planned teaching programme regarding TPN in children. Pre experimental one group pre-test post-test design with evaluative approach was adopted to accomplish the objectives of the study. A sample of 30 III year B.Sc. nursing students was selected for the study by using purposive sampling technique. The effectiveness was tested using paired ‘t’ test and the result was found highly significant (t29=17.37, p<0.05).
