Assess the level of depression among the patients with chronic leg and foot ulcer.
Assess the psychological distress among the patients with chronic leg and foot ulcer.
Descriptive survey design was used to assess the level of depression and psychological distress. Beck depression inventory and Kessler's psychological distress scale was used for the data collection.
Adults admitted in the K.S. Hegde medical college Hospital, Mangalore, India
The samples comprises of 40 patients suffering with diabetic foot ulcer or venous leg ulcer. The beck depression inventory was used to screen the level of depression and Kessler's psychological distress scale was used to measure the distress. The results shown that the level of depression was 35.7% and distress was 56% among the patients suffering with chronic leg wounds
This study concluded that there are needs to focus mental health promotion aspect of this vulnerable population struggling with chronic leg wounds. Patient struggling with chronic leg wounds require intervention to promote their mental health aspects is inevitable.
