A Descriptive Study to Assess the Knowledge and Level of Satisfaction among Women Regarding Reproductive and Child Health (RCH-II) Services Provided at Community Health Centre, Sahnewal, Ludhiana, Punjab

Abstract

RCH-II phase began from 1st April, 2005. The focus of the program is to reduce maternal and child morbidity and mortality with emphasis on rural health care. Studies revealed that women knowledge and satisfaction regarding RCH-II services is low. Therefore A Descriptive Study to Assess the Knowledge and Level of Satisfaction Among Women Regarding Reproductive and Child Health (RCH-II) Services Provided at Community Health Centre, Sahnewal, Ludhiana, Punjab, was undertaken with the objectives: to assess the knowledge among women regarding Reproductive and Child Health (RCH-II) services provided at Community Health Centre, Sahnewal, Ludhiana, Punjab, to assess deficit areas of knowledge, to assess the level of satisfaction, to find out relationship between knowledge and level of satisfaction among women, to find out the relationship of knowledge and satisfaction among women with selected demographic variables. A non experimental descriptive study was conducted at Community Health Centre, Sahnewal, Ludhiana, Punjab. The target population of study was married women of age group 18–45 years availing RCH-II facilities provided by Community Health Centre, Sahnewal, Ludhiana, Punjab. 100 women were selected by purposive sampling technique. Data was collected from women by self structured questionnaire and Likert scale. Findings revealed that 48% women had good knowledge regarding RCH-II services provided at Community Health Centre, Sahnewal, Ludhiana, Punjab. Highest deficit area of knowledge was Immunization. 98% women were satisfied with RCH-II services provided at community health centre, Sahnewal. There was weak positive correlation (0.25) between knowledge and satisfaction of RCH-II services. Education status, family income, source of information was found to be related with knowledge of women. Type of family, number of children, occupation of women were found to be related with satisfaction of women. The regarding None of other variables were found significantly related with knowledge of women regarding RCH-II services.
