Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on Knowledge Attitude and Practice Regarding Breast Self-Examination among Married Working Women

Breast cancer is the most common form of malignant diseases in women. Meanwhile early discovery of breast lumps through Breast Self-Examination (BSE) is important for the prevention and early defection of such diseases. The statement of the problem is study to evaluate the effectiveness of Structural Teaching Programme (SJP) on knowledge attitude and practice regarding Breast Self-Examination among Married working women in schools at Coimbatore. The objective of this study to evaluate the effectiveness of Structural Teaching Programme Breast Self - Examination among Married Working Women. A Quasi -Experimental study was conducted in Sengottain Higher Secondary School in ponadur and Madukkarai Government Higher Secondary School among 60 married working women - They were selected randomly from different department adopting the survey approach. The instruments contains self-administered questionnaire to assess the knowledge. Three-point sikert scale to determine the participant Attitude and Rating Scale to assess the Particles Breast - Self- Examination. STP was carried out, in the form of lectures, group discussions and demonstration by using liquid Crystal Display and Breast Mode. After the 7 days the same fools were used for follow up. The result shows that ‘t’ value of knowledge, attitude and practice score was 22.0413, 14.6319 and 60.49 respectively. It was significant at 0.05 level (p<0.05).
