Nursing is an important profession. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of career guidance programme on knowledge regarding nursing profession among higher secondary students at selected school, Thrissur. The objectives of the study were to assess the existing level of knowledge regarding nursing profession, administer career guidance programme on nursing, and determine the effect of career guidance programme on knowledge regarding nursing profession among higher secondary students at selected school, Thrissur and to associate the existing level of knowledge regarding nursing profession among higher secondary students with their selected demographic variables. The research design used was a pre experimental one group pretest-posttest design. The study was conducted among 30 higher secondary students, through simple random sampling technique. Data were collected with a knowledge questionnaire regarding nursing profession.
A descriptive and inferential statistical method was used and analyzed the data. Study results reveals that the mean posttest level of knowledge regarding nursing profession for samples who have undergone career guidance programe was significantly higher than the mean pretestlevel of knowledge at 0.05 level of significance. From the findings it is clear that the career guidance programme was effective in improving knowledge regarding nursing profession.
