An Experimental Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Self Instructional Module on Selected Obstetrical Drugs among Nursing Students of Selected Nursing Institutes of Distt. Mohali, Punjab.
The present study was conducted with the purpose to determine the effectiveness of Self Instructional Module on Selected Obstetrical Drugs among nursing students. Sample size comprised of 60 nursing students (30 in experimental group from Sri Sukhmani College of Nursing Distt. Mohali and 30 in control group from Rattan Professional College of Nursing Distt. Mohali),and sample were selected by simple random sampling technique. Pre-test was given to both the groups and Self Instructional Module was administered to experimental group only. Post test was given to both the groups to evaluate the effectiveness of SIM on selected obstetrical drugs.
The gathered data was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results depicts that in experimental group the overall mean knowledge score in pre-test was 15.33±4.56, mean percentage was 42.59% and during post-test the overall mean knowledge was 29.83±6.13, mean percentage was 83.87%. The mean percentage difference between pre and post test of experimental group was 40.28%. Hence, it shows the effectiveness of self instructional module on selected obstetrical drugs. Whereas in control group the overall mean knowledge score in pre-test was 17.13±3.23, mean percentage was 47.59% and during post-test overall mean knowledge score was 17.40±3.34, mean percentage was 48.33% Hence, it depicts that the overall knowledge score of control group in pre and post test was almost similar.
The findings shows that in experimental group the mean pre test knowledge score was less than the mean post test knowledge score which shows the effectiveness of Self Instructional Module. In experimental group, there is no impact of socio demographic variables except professional qualification and in control group has no impact on knowledge level other than professional qualification and educational qualification at <0.05 and <0.001 level.
