tuberculosis is an acute or chronic infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and is one of the top 10 causes of death worldwide. Ending the tuberculosis epidemic by 2030 is among the health targets of the newly adopted Sustainable Development Goals. Helping clients overcoming barriers to completion of tuberculosis treatment is the foundation of effective counseling. Counseling plays a significant role in providing tuberculosis patients with complete and accurate knowledge about the nature of tuberculosis, its symptoms, mode of transmission and how to manage the disease and gives lot of psychological support. Nurses play very effective role in counseling in taking care of tuberculosis patients and applying the strategies as creating awareness, contact screening, remove the stigma, explaining about the treatment completion immediately in the initial period of diagnosing as pulmonary tuberculosis by preventing the drug resistance tuberculosis.
