Abstract

A structured teaching program is a great way to teach individuals about the correct usage of metered-dose inhalers.

1. To assess the existing knowledge regarding the use of MDIs and its precautions among patients with Bronchial Asthma. 2. To associate the pre-test knowledge regarding the use of MDIs and its precautions among patients with Bronchial Asthma with their selected demographic variables.

Quasi-experimental one group pre-test-post test design.

60 patients with Bronchial Asthma were selected using nonprobability convenience sampling.

A self-structured Questionnaire was used to assess the level of knowledge.

There was significant difference between the pre and post test knowledge score with the ‘t’value of 19.33 and found to be highly significant at the level of p< 0.05.

The findings of the study revealed that a structured teaching program helps in improving the knowledge of subjects regarding the use and precautions of MDIs.
