Abstract

Jute fabric was treated with 1% NaOH (owf) using different time, temperature and MLR. The treated jute fabric was characterised by pXRD, SEM, FTIR, TGA, and moisture property and the standard condition for improved mechanical property of jute fabric was derived. Results inferred that among 1% NaOH at 50°C for 60 minutes in 1:10 MLR gave better results than other conditions. It is concluded that 1% NaOH modified jute fabric can also be used to develop moulded products from USP resin with improved mechanical property and density.
