Abstract

Infection of the renal cysts is one of the most common complications of Autosomal Dominant PolycysticKidney Disease (ADPKD). Current radiographic techniques especially those dependent on renal function are difficult to localize the site of infection. Tc-99m HMPAO (Hexa methyl propylene amine oxime) labelled leucocyte scan is both highly sensitive and specific in detecting and localizing infected renal cysts in patients with or without renal failure. We present here a series of four patients of ADPKD where Tc-99m labelled leucocyte scan was successfully used to detect and localize the site of sepsis.
