Abstract

Preparation of [18F] fluoride ion: [18F]fluoride ion is produced by irradiating 18O water with protons in Cyclotron (RDS111) and transferred to anion exchange column in Explora FDG 4.[18F] fluoride ion gets trapped into this column while passing through it and 18O gets separated and collected in a separate vial. Trapped 18F ion is eluted in an aqueous phase and transferred back to the production vial in hot cell after filtering through a millipore filter.

pH, clarity, isotonicity, half-life, Rf value, presence of kryptofix were performed to check the above preparation. pH was adjusted to 6.5 with addition of buffer or appropriate solution which is physiologically acceptable.

It can be used for bone imaging.

10–12 mCi 18F solution was injected into the patients and found to be good for bone imaging.
