Abstract

Root colonizing bacteria (rhlzobacterla) and some fungi that exert beneficial effects on plant development via direct or in-direct mechanisms have been worked as excellent plant growth promoting media (bio-enhancers). Although significant enhancement of plant development has been demonstrated by microorganisms in the laboratory and in the greenhouse but results in the field have been less consistent. The application facilitate their development as reliable components for organic crop production in the management of sustainable agricultural systems. Pseudomonas and Trichoderma are promising growth bio-enhancers, and their performances were evaluated, under different mode of applications in Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill., variety DARL-64) under protected conditions in central Himalayas at an altitude of 1525 mts. above msl. Experiments were conducted during nursery and crop growth stages, where, virgin garden soli and amended soil with verml-compost were used with different methodology of applications of bio-enhancers. The promotive effects of Pseudomonas and Trichoderma were recorded in growth promotion during nursery and crop growth stages, which were quite significant.
