Relative degree of photosensitivity of rice cultures as influenced by different sowing dates

Thirty-two rice cultures were sown in field at monthly intervals each on 1^st day of June, July, August and September to evaluate their relative degree of photosensitivity. Two cultures IET 10526 and IET 11867 recorded an earliness in flowering by 64 days, 11 cultures by 59–63 days, eight cultures by 54–58 days, five cultures by 50–54 days and four cultures by 45–50 days. Rest two cultures IET 10543 and IET 11183 were considered weakly sensitive showing earliness by 5–7 days only. Four cultures IET 10563, IET 11272, IET 11865 and IET 11869 were found promising producing more than 1.5 t/ha grain yield even under late-planted (September sown) condition.
