Association analysis of grain yield with quality traits and other yield components in segregating population of rice (Oryza sativa L.)

Abstract

Genetic variability and association analysis of four quality and eight biometrical traits in two cross combination of F2 and F3 rice segregants were studied. Among the traits, number of grain per panicle, number of productive tillers per plant and 100 grain weight recorded more variability. Grain quality traits viz., L/B ratio of grain and grain breadth, recorded moderate variability. All the above mentioned characters showed high heritability coupled with high genetic advance. None of the quality traits showed significant association with single plant yield except L/B ratio of grain in F3 generation of ASD 16x IRBB 60.
