Advances in dentistry, as well as an increased desire of patient to maintain their natural teeth, have lead to evolution of treatment modalities for teeth that once would have been indicated for extraction. A periodontally comprised tooth with severe bone loss around one of its root is one such condition and may well be retained by removal of one or more of their roots. This article describes a prosthetic management of a mandibular 2nd molar with resected distal root.
Root resection, root amputation, premolarization
