History of complete denture base materials

History of complete dentures dates back from 700 BC by Etruscans in northern Italy when complete dentures were fabricated from human or other natural teeth which were popular till 19^th century. Later various materials and methods for use in complete denture were invented. Modern dentures are most often fabricated in acommercial dental laboratory using acombination of atissue shaded powder polymethylmethacrylate acrylic and commercially produced acrylic teeth available in hundreds of shapes and tooth colors. This article gives an insight into the journey of denture base materials from primitive forms to the recenttimes.
