Failure of tooth-denture base bond remains a major problem in prosthodontic practice. The objective of this study was to evaluate bonding of denture teeth to acrylic bases and to compare the chemical and mechanical modifications of denture teeth on bond strength between denture base resin and teeth. The test specimens, maxillary right central incisors (11) were divided into 4groups with Group I as control. The teeth were arranged with the angulation of 130 degree on wax blocks.
These test specimens were prepared by DPI heat cure resin. Ashear load was applied at palatal surface of central incisor (11) using Universal Testing Machine until failure occurred. Bond strength was evaluated and statistically analyzed. The control group specimens without any modification prepared by DPI heat cure resin showed lowest bond strength value whereas the specimens prepared by surface roughening of ridge lap with sandpaper grit no -120 and also modified by applying MMA monomer 5 minutes prior being packed with DPI heat cure resin showed highest bond strength value, therefore this modification can be recommended as areliable method to secure denture teeth in denture bases.
