Abstract

Conventional complete dentures have been the traditional treatment option for rehabilitation of edentulous patients, but as the age progresses alveolar bone resorbs and causes difficulties for the patient to adapt to existing scenario. Various mechanical attachments fixed in tooth roots to improve the retention and stability of an overdenture has been used for centuries. Endosseous implants are being used in the same manner as were tooth roots used more than 100 years ago and are reliable abutments for both retention and support of over dentures. Overdentures supported by afew implants in edentulous mandible show high success rate.
